August 3, Matt and Mandi Wedding

I was invited to a friends wedding a couple of weeks back - actually the invite came months ago but details - and as I'm sure came as no surprise to her, him or anyone else present I brought along some camera equipment to get photos. Not being the official photographer I didn't exhaust myself looking for photos, nor did I bring a flash, nor did I really ever get up out of my undesignated seat to take these images so, y'know, they aren't by any means as high a quality as I would like to attach to them. Still I did burn through roughly 12 gig's of photos and a number of them did work out so, without too much more fanfare, I'll get them posted for all to see.

A couple quick notes: I chose roughly 25 photos that I either enjoyed or thought someone else would to post here. To that end, I'll divide them up by either individual or set of individuals depending on the circumstances. Also, should you desire to download or use any image that is fine with me. Either click on the image to get a larger version or follow the link at the bottom of the entry. If, alternatively, you want me to print an image or two off feel free to contact me and we can work things out from there.

August 5 Photos

Missed another Photo Phriday and do you know why that's so horrible? I had photos ready to go I just didn't get home in time to post. Gah! Well, here ARE the photos that were going to go up. My wife and I went for a walk on a beautiful day here in Regina and I decided to take a few quick photos of her.

That isn't my wife, btw. I did take a couple photos that weren't of her.

The above photo is a good example of not preparing for the photo properly. The day was extremely bright out, what with the sun being out an' all, and the result was some extremely high contrast. Now high contrast in and of itself isn't bad as you can get some awesome photos with high contrast. However, if you aren't preparing for it (like I wasn't) you can get some heavy, distracting shadows that you probably don't want. How do you get rid of high contrast you ask? Turn on the flash function on your camera (this will help light up areas the sun is missing), just an evenly lit area (during sunny days, try completely shaded spots) or by a reflector! There's your quick photography tips for the day!

So, yeah, that's it for today. We'll see you later this week!

SLAGG Saskatoon Blitz

I went to an anime convention this past weekend and, not too coincedentally, I brought my camera with me. The result was a lot more fun photos then seriously artistic or professional quality ones but that was perfectly fine with me because I had a great time while there!

Anyweather, below are a small sampling of the photos I took while there.

Portrait Week - Day One

Steve Lacey

Quite a while ago I did a Landscape week (and since then a number of photos have crossed over, surprise surprise) so it's only fitting that I do a portrait week now!
